UTAR and III collaborate for the career development of students

A cooperation ceremony was held between Institute for Information Industry (III) Taiwan, China and UTAR on 27 March 2023 at Sungai Long Campus in conjunction with 2023 Taiwan’s Semiconductor Talents Recruitment Activity. Present at the event were Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia Division of Economic Director James Chang, UTAR Vice President for Internationalisation and Academic Development Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min, Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEAIDB) Industrial Development Bureau Division of Information Technology Industries Director Chen Kuo-Hsuan, MOEAIDB Division of Information Technology Industries Section Chief Zhang Zhe-Lun, III Institute of Digital Transformation Research Deputy Director Lin, Ya-Yi, representatives from Taiwan research institutes, industries and universities, UTAR students and staff.

Prof Goi said, “Organisations around the world are struggling to find the skilled professionals they need to stay competitive and grow their businesses. At the same time, talented individuals are increasingly seeking out opportunities that offer them the best chance to develop their skills, advance their careers, and make a positive impact on society. Through this cooperation, UTAR and III are committing to work together to build a more diverse and inclusive workforce that can leverage the best talent from around the world.”

Chen said, “We are very honoured to be here today to sign the international talent strategy cooperation with UTAR. I hope all students can come to Taiwan to work and study, and become a part of the global semiconductor industry.” Chen also said that students have the opportunity to work in different countries, enterprises, diverse employment and environment which would expand their global exposure experience.

III Market Intelligence and Consulting Institute (MIC) Senior Industry Consultant and Director General Chris Hung gave a presentation on Trends in the global and Taiwanese Semiconductor Industries, Opportunities for Working in the Semiconductor Industry, and Opportunities for Studying the Semiconductor Industry. In the presentation, Chris Hung spoke about economic and technological achievements, digital technology driving industry paradigm shifts and other related topics. He said, “The rapid development of 5G technology, Artificial Intelligence of Things and Electric Vehicle applications will continue to drive global chip demand in the long term, therefore the global semiconductor market will continue to grow, albeit at a slower rate.”

The talent recruitment drive saw the participation of exhibitors from Taiwan research institutes, industries and universities such as the Industrial Development Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEAIDB), Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia, III, Southern Taiwan Industry Promotion Center (STIPC), TSMC, Advanced Semiconductor Engineering, Inc. (ASE), Realtek Semiconductor Corp.,   Phison Electronics Corporation, United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC), Siliconware Precision Industries Co., Ltd. (SPIL), Ardentec, National Taiwan University (NTU), National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU), National Taipei University of Technology (NTUT), National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology (NKUST), National University of Kaohsiung (NUK), Cheng Shiu University (CSU) and Investment Office.
