Nurturing leadership qualities in secondary school students

UTAR Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) of Kampar Campus, in collaboration with the Department of Student Affairs (DSA), organised an exciting leadership talk and some team-building activities for 90 enthusiastic students from the Peer Guidance Club of SMJK Perempuan Perak, Ipoh on 26 April 2023. The aim of the activity was to equip the students with leadership skills and build team spirit among them.

The Head of Department of Management and Accountancy of CFS (Kampar Campus), Tsen Tzu Yee, kicked off the event by introducing the students to UTAR Foundation programmes and financial aid. This was followed by a captivating leadership talk by DSA Counsellor S. Gursheena Kaur. She talked about the qualities of a good leader.

After the talk, the students participated in team-building activities that required them to work together and communicate effectively. They were divided into groups and given various challenges that tested their problem-solving skills and teamwork. The students had a blast as they worked together to overcome the challenges.

Overall, the students found the event to be informative and engaging. They appreciated the opportunity to learn from the experienced speaker and participate in the team-building activities. They also commented that the event allowed them to bond with their peers and develop their leadership skills, which will be valuable for their future endeavours.
