UTAR was graced by a visit from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics
Engineers (IEEE), at Sungai Long Campus, on 23 October 2023. The visit aimed
to discuss the IEEE initiatives in climate change and some potential
collaborations between UTAR and IEEE.

Internationalisation and Academic Development Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min, Dean
of Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC FES) Ts Dr Yap Wun
She, Chairperson of Centre for Communication Systems and Networks Prof Ts Dr
Lim Eng Hock, LKC FES specialist Ir Ts Wong Chee Fui and Director of
Division of Community and International Networking (DCInterNet) Dr Lai Soon

The discussion began with Prof Dato’ Ewe providing a brief overview of UTAR
and UTAR Hospital. In response to Prof Saifur’s interest in solar energy,
Prof Dato’ Ewe pointed out that the solar energy implemented at UTAR has the
potential to result in a 10% energy savings. Additionally, the discussion
covered the topic of student fees associated with joining the UTAR IEEE
Student Chapter, as an effort to increase student participation in the
chapter. Moreover, there were deliberations about the IEEE database fees.
