A memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between UTAR and
Guangdong Industry Polytechnic (GDIP), China, was held on 18 October 2023 at
UTAR Sungai Long Campus. The signatories were UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’
Dr Ewe Hong Tat and GDIP Vice President Prof Liao Junjie.

Also present at the signing ceremony were GDIP’s Office of International
Exchange and Cooperation Director Prof Dr Zhou Xiaoping, Papermaking
Teaching and Research Section Director Prof Dr Wang Baoyu, School of Finance
and Economics Deputy Dean Assoc Prof Dr Wang Xiaoyan and School of Finance
and Economics Section member Wu Chujun.
Representatives from UTAR were Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and
Science (LKC FES) Dean Assoc Prof Ts Dr Yap Wun She, LKC FES Deputy Dean for
Student Development and Industrial Training Assoc Prof
Ts Dr Lee Kim Yee, Faculty
of Accountancy and Management (FAM) Deputy Dean for Academic Development and
Undergraduate Programmes Dr Ng Kar Yee, Division of Community and
International Networking (DCInterNet) Director Assoc Prof Dr Lai Soon Onn
and DCInterNet staff Liu Dan.
Representatives from ND Paper Malaysia (Selangor) Sdn Bhd were Deputy Human
Resources (HR) Manager Tan Li Yen, Senior HR Executive Kevin Luo and HR
Executive Chan Weng Hoe.

Prof Dato’ Ewe said, “The signing
of this MoU means that we will work together to promote the progress and
development of education, academic, and scientific research. We will
actively expand new areas of cooperation, and strengthen exchanges and
cooperation between the two parties in original areas. I believe that
through our joint efforts, our cooperation will achieve more fruitful
results, and at the same time, contribute to the friendship and society
between the two countries.”

Prof Liao began his speech by introducing GDIP. He also mentioned that GDIP
built an international vocational education pattern with the concept of
"Bringing In, Going Out”, and responding to the "Belt and Road” initiative
by serving the development of domestic and foreign enterprises.
In the discussions, ND Paper Malaysia, a paper manufacturing company based in Malaysia, will also assist
to provide training and career opportunities for UTAR students.
