Charity Concert successfully raised RM3,911,863.00 for UTAR Hospital
The Tiger Sin Chew Chinese Education Charity Night
(Tiger星洲华教义演) was held on 3 November 2023 at
the magnificent HGH Convention Centre in Sentul to raise funds for UTAR
Hospital. The event was jointly organised by Tiger Beer, Sin Chew Daily,
Guang Ming Daily, and UTAR.

UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat said in
his speech, “The well-known ‘Tiger Sin Chew Chinese Education Performance’
started in 1994. It has benefited many primary and secondary schools in the
country. UTAR is honoured to be the first university to help raise funds for
the charity performance. Therefore, on behalf of UTAR, I would like to
sincerely thank Tiger, Sin Chew Daily and Guang Ming Daily for their
sponsorship and strong support, as well as the extensive publicity.”
Prof Dato’ Ewe added, “UTAR Hospital represents a
significant milestone in UTAR’s ongoing development. Similar to UTAR, the
hospital operates on a non-profit basis, offering accessible and
high-quality medical services. These services encompass modern medicine as
well as traditional complementary medicine, including Chinese medicine,
Ayurvedic medicine, and Malay medicine, to serve the general public.
Concurrently, UTAR Hospital plays a pivotal role in nurturing high-quality
students in the field of medicine and health sciences, while also promoting
medical and clinical research. This multifaceted approach contributes to the
advancement of the country’s healthcare sector.”

Roland Bala said, “We take great pride in organising the charity concert
since 1994 and remain humble, having raised an impressive RM3,911,863.00 for
the Chinese community. The resilience and unity of the Chinese community
continue to amaze and inspire us.” He added, “We are proud of Tiger Beer’s
role in gathering local communities to celebrate the Joy of True
Togetherness. As a responsible and progressive company, we believe that our
growth is connected with the well-being of our communities. Through this
charity concert, we aim to provide a platform to raise much-needed funds
that help shape and develop Malaysia’s communities and future leaders. At
the same time, we are encouraged by the amazing response and generosity
shown by UTAR as well as all who have contributed to this cause.”

Berhad and Chief Executive Officer of Sin Chew Daily Mr Koo Cheng said,
“Tonight marks the fifth collaboration between Sin Chew Daily and UTAR
within a year to raise funds for UTAR Hospital. In the past four events, we
have helped raise a total of over RM11million. This reflects the efforts of
UTAR leaders for the hospital and their unwavering commitment. Sin Chew
Daily, as one of the supporters that supports the Chinese community,
considers serving the community as a duty. In addition to culture and
education, healthcare is a topic of great concern to us. Furthermore, Sin
Chew Daily’s collaboration with UTAR will stand beyond tonight because we
are discussing with UTAR Hospital to explore further cooperation so that we
can deliver greater benefit to the community.”
During the pinnacle of the opening ceremony,
distinguished donors were warmly welcomed to the stage to participate in the
captivating Lighting, Drum, and Gong Ceremony, to showcase our profound
gratitude for their generous support and contributions to UTAR Hospital.

Min Tze, distinguished members of the UTAR Education Foundation Board of

Sin Chew Daily and Guang Ming Daily; distinguished donors, UTAR staff and
members of the public.

The attendees were also treated to an engaging
cultural performance by seasoned performers from the Malaysian community.

UTAR Hospital is a non-profit hospital that will not
only provide medical and health services to the community but also practical
training for the University’s medical students in the Faculty of Medicine
and Health Sciences. The establishment of UTAR Hospital will also benefit
Kampar and the surrounding communities with increased socio-economic
activities and better access to quality medical services.
