Prof Yao Chun emphasised that the
healthcare industry plays a pivotal role in addressing the evolving
healthcare needs of society. She said, “As the world witnesses an increased
ageing population and increased awareness of holistic well-being, the
development of this industry is becoming more crucial than ever. Guangxi, a
region known for its rich cultural heritage and natural resources, has a
unique advantage in contributing to the development of the Big Health
Industry.” Prof Yao Chun then highlighted the commitment of Guangxi
University of Chinese Medicine in conducting cutting-edge research,
promoting traditional Chinese medicine, and integrating modern healthcare
practices to foster the growth of this industry in the region.
Prof Yao
explaining the relationship between Guangxi and Chinese medicine
One of the key factors highlighted
during Prof Yao’s talk was the significance of Guangxi’s authentic medicinal
materials, particularly Guishiwei
(桂十味).
Guishiwei is a unique blend of
traditional herbs and plant extracts, deeply rooted in the region’s history.
Its properties and applications make it an indispensable resource for
traditional Chinese medicine practitioners and modern pharmaceutical
research. Prof Yao Chun emphasised that the Big Health Industry does not
only focus on the development of products and services but also prioritises
the efficacy of treatments. According to Prof Yao, traditional Chinese
medicine and acupuncture have been proven to offer holistic healing and
well-being; they play a crucial role in the evolution of the Big Health
Industry. Through research and development, these ancient practices can be
integrated with modern medicine to offer more comprehensive healthcare
solutions.
