Administering exciting science experiments at SMK Menglembu, Perak

One hundred and twenty participants, who attended the STEM programme, organised by UTAR STEM Outreach at SMK Menglembu, Perak on 18 November 2023 were greeted with mind-blowing science experiment activities.

The students had the chance to experience a total of four simple yet fun experiments at the event.  Among the science experiments conducted were the Lava Lamp, pH Indicator, Magic Box, and Chemical Traffic Light Reaction. This activity-based learning was conducted to promote interest towards STEM among students and improve their understanding of STEM in a fun and interactive way.

The activities were conducted by lecturers and lab assistants from the Faculty of Science (FSc). The main facilitators were FSc Head of Chemical Science Department Dr Ooi Mei Lee, FSc academic Dr Phang Ai Ling and FSc Assistant Laboratory Manager Ms Wong Wei Seng. They were assisted by Fsc Assistant Laboratory Manager Mr Seou Chi Kien and FSc Senior Laboratory Assistant I Pn Nur Izzati binti Shari. Also present were Ms Juanne Pang and Mr Tham Yeong Shyue from the Division of Programme Promotion (Kampar Campus). The team was led by Dr Ong Kiah Ju, the Head of STEM Outreach.

This programme was held as part of UTAR STEM Outreach’s community project titled “Sustainability in Life”. It was carried out in conjunction with Karnival Kimia Malaysia (K2M) Ke-4 Negeri Perak.
