MoU signing between UTAR and BUCEA

UTAR and Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture (BUCEA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at UTAR Sungai Long Campus on 20 November 2023. The signatories were UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat and BUCEA Deputy Secretary of CPC Committee & President Prof Dr Zhang Dayu.

This MoU will pave the way for a wide array of transformative ventures between the two universities. These ventures will encompass international collaborative research projects, programmes dedicated to nurturing talents, staff and student exchanges, seminars, conferences, and workshops.

Prof Dato’ Ewe said, “The signing of the MoU signifies more than just a collaboration agreement between these two universities; it stands as a symbol of our shared commitment to achieving excellence in education and advancing research. This MoU not only strengthens the bonds between our institutions but also establishes the groundwork for our future partnership. Through this collaboration, we aim to provide students with an expanded learning platform and to create ample opportunities for academic exchange among our faculty. We anticipate that by sharing knowledge and resources, we can collectively propel academic progress, contribute to societal development, and further enhance the enduring friendship between Malaysia and China.”

Prof Zhang said, “The signing of this MoU marks a significant milestone that is established to lay a solid foundation for the ongoing development and collaboration between our respective universities. We are particularly enthusiastic about the potential fruitful outcomes arising from our future endeavours together. I extend a sincere invitation to all of you to visit Beijing Architecture University and witness firsthand the camaraderie between our two nations. Lastly, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Prof Dato’ Ewe and all the esteemed colleagues at UTAR for their collaboration and support.”

Present at the MoU exchange ceremony were BUCEA School of Electrical and Information Engineering Dean Prof Dr Guo Maozu, Graduate School Executive Deputy Dean Prof Zhou Xia, International Development Research Institute (School of International Education) Deputy Dean Ms Ding Shuai, School of Architecture and Urban Planning Assistant to the Dean for International Affairs Assoc Prof Dr Hao Shimeng and International Cooperation Office of the International Development Research Institute (School of International Education) Head Ms Li Yang.

The representatives from UTAR were Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC FES) Dean Assoc Prof Ts Dr Yap Wun She, LKC FES Department of Architecture and Sustainable Design Head Ts Dr Tan Kok Hong, Division of Community and International Networking (DCInterNet) Director Assoc Prof Dr Lai Soon Onn and DCInterNet Senior Assistant Manager Ms Liu Dan.
