UTAR signs two agreements with JUFE

Two agreements were signed between UTAR and Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, China (JUFE) on 25 November 2023 at UTAR Sungai Long Campus. The agreements were meant for (1) the establishment of a Joint Research Centre for Digital Economy and Public Governance, and (2) Mutual Credit Transfer for MBA programmes.

The representatives from JUFE were its President Prof Deng Hui, Director of Office of International Cooperation and Exchange Dr Gong Meijun, Dean of Graduate School Prof Luo Shihua, Dean of School of Business Administration Prof Hu Haibo and Dean of School of International Trade and Economics Prof Wu Zhaoyang.

Present on behalf of UTAR were its President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat, Dean of Faculty of Business and Finance (FBF) Assoc Prof Dr Au Yong Hui Nee, Faculty of Accountancy and Management (FAM) Deputy Dean for Academic Development and Undergraduate Programmes Dr Ng Kar Yee, Director of Division of Community and International Networking (DCInterNet) Assoc Prof Dr Lai Soon Onn and Senior Assistant Manager of DCInterNet Ms Liu Dan.

Prof Dato’ Ewe said, “We will take the signing of these agreements as an opportunity to further strengthen our relationship. We will work together to learn from each other and share resources to provide students with a richer and more comprehensive educational experience. At the same time, we will continue to jointly explore new academic fields and promote the development of research to better serve society and promote the friendship between Malaysia and China. I believe that the signing of these agreements will open a new chapter in the cooperation between our two universities. This is our common expectation and the direction for our joint efforts.”

Prof Deng said, “The signing of these two agreements today demonstrates that our cooperation has reached a higher level. We also hope that our future collaborations will yield even more fruitful results. While our school is primarily characterised by the Department of Finance and Economics, our non-finance and economics departments have also developed significantly in recent years. We anticipate more exchanges between teachers and students in the future, not only within the Finance and Economics department but across the entire institution.”

After the signing ceremony, a discussion session took place. Both universities discussed issues pertaining to internship, scientific research cooperation, collaboration in the field of digital economy and financial technology, and cooperation on ACCA papers.
