Signing of Deed of Donation for JinBodhi Bursary 2023

The UTAR JinBodhi Bursary Deed of Donation Signing Ceremony was held on 5 October 2023 at UTAR Sungai Long Campus. The signing ceremony was held in support of the Bodhi Meditation Charity Foundation for their donation of RM600,000 to UTAR students for the year 2023.

Signing the deed of donation were UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat and Bodhi Meditation Charity Foundation Chairman Teacher Ling Shan, while witnessing the signing were UTAR Vice President for Student Development and Alumni Relations Prof Dr Choong Chee Keong and Bodhi Meditation Charity Foundation Board of Trustees Teacher Fu Han.

Also present at the signing ceremony were UTAR Vice President for Internationalisation and Academic Development Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min, Bodhi Meditation Charity Foundation committee members Brother Xu Te, Brother Wen Jun and Sister Dong Cao, Bodhi Meditation Charity Foundation guest Sister Wen You, Bodhi Meditation Charity Foundation staff Sister You Qi and Sister Guang Chang, Head of Department for Scholarships and Financial Aid Tan Wear Sim, Head of Department for Soft Skills Competency (Sungai Long Campus) Fook Oi Yee, Head of Department for International Student Services (Sungai Long Campus) Foo Wai Wai, Head of Department for Student Affairs (Sungai Long Campus) Loh Nyuk Leung, scholarship recipient Teh Yee Wei, and UTAR staff.

Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe mentioned that, “From the years 2018 to 2022, more than 159 UTAR students have received a total of over RM2.88 million in financial assistance from the Jinbodhi Bursary Award. These students, who were once facing financial challenges, have been able to pursue their dreams and aspirations, thanks to the Jinbodhi Bursary Award.”

He added, “Today, we are honored to witness yet another disbursement of RM600,000 which will benefit UTAR students in need. Your continued support is a testament of your unwavering commitment to the betterment of our society through education.”

In his speech, Teacher Ling Shan says that education is very important for all families. “Education can change the life of many families. With the JinBodhi Bursary, students do not need to work extra hours for the tuition fees and they can focus more on their studies.”

Teacher Ling Shan mentioned that the Bodhi Meditation Charity Foundation increased the donation from RM350,000 to RM600,000 this year and he hopes that the JinBodhi Bursary can benefit more students and give back to the society after they graduated with the knowledge earned from the university.

Jin Bodhi Bursary recipient, accounting student Teh said, “Thank you so much for this JinBodhi Bursary which has greatly reduced the financial pressure on my parents for my tuition fees. The money saved has helped my parents to fund the educational fees and expenses for my younger brother’s education. Thank you again for this Jun Bodhi bursary.”
