Faculty of Business and Finance (FBF) Department of Commerce and Accountancy in collaboration with Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Raja Chulan (SRC) Ipoh, Perak organised an Accounting Camp for Form 4 and Form 5 students on 7 October 2023 at SRC, Ipoh, Perak.

Led by project leader Che Siti Lazrina binti Md Lazim from FBF, the programme aimed to provide a better understanding of the scope of accounting study for students after the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination. Furthermore, it aimed to highlight the importance of professional accounting bodies and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) development; provide knowledge on how to be a Chartered Accountant (CA) of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), and promote ACCA programme and Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) Accounting at UTAR Kampar Campus. 

The programme kick-started with a workshop on the technique to answer the “Prinsip Perakaunan” subject for Form 5 students by Cikgu Zan Asri. The workshop provided students with a better understanding of the requirements of the assignment and examination. In addition, the programme continued with career path and motivational talks by FBF academics, namely Wong Tai Seng with his topic “The Journey of ACCA Programme”, FBF Department of Commerce & Accountancy Head Sonia Johanthan with her topic “Accounting Career Pathway” and Dr Zam Zuriyati Mohamed with her topic “Motivational Talk”. The speakers also highlighted the benefits of accounting study and how to excel in accounting subject. They also spoke about the importance of professional accounting bodies and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) development. Moreover, the programme continued with interesting accounting quizzes and other fun games to expose students to accounting information.

The session ended with Q&A and group photograph session.
