MoU with MHM Global Pte Ltd Singapore sealed

An inaugural memorandum of understanding (MoU) was officially signed between UTAR and MHM Global Pte. Ltd., Singapore at UTAR Kampar Campus on 11 October 2023 to initiate potential collaborations in the area of logistics.

The MoU was signed by UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat and MHM Global Pte. Ltd., Singapore Managing Director Mr Joey Lim, and witnessed by UTAR Faculty of Science (FSc) Dean Assoc Prof Dr Lim Tuck Meng and MHM Global Pte. Ltd., Singapore Senior Operations Manager Mr Thomas Chee.

Also present during the MoU signing ceremony were FSc Head of Department of Physical and Mathematical Science Assoc Prof Ts Dr Lam Weng Hoe, FSc academic Ts Dr Mohd. Azam bin Din, Head of Department of Alumni Relations and Placement Ms Tan Cheng Wah, UTAR Division of Community and International Networking Deputy Director Dr Chen, I-Chi and MHM Global Pte. Ltd. Business Development General Manager Ms Jojo Ng.

Prof Dato’ Ewe enthused, “This collaboration marks the coming together of academia and industry. UTAR is an institution of knowledge and innovation, where research and education thrive. On the other hand, companies like MHM Global Pte. Ltd. are engines of economic growth and progress, continuously evolving to meet the demands of a dynamic global market. Today’s MoU signifies our shared vision of bridging the gap between theory and practice, between the classroom and the boardroom. It is an affirmation of our commitment to developing the skills, talents, and knowledge of our students and faculty to meet the ever-evolving needs of the logistics and freight industry.”

Lauding UTAR as a prominent and progressive university with enormous achievements despite its young age, Mr Lim said, “This MoU will also provide our students with valuable internship opportunities at MHM Logistics, allowing them to gain practical experience and insight into the logistics sector. This real-world exposure is vital for preparing our graduates for successful careers. Under the MoU, UTAR and MHM Global will also work together to offer training and development programmes to enhance the skills and knowledge of industry professionals. This commitment to lifelong learning will contribute to the continuous improvement of the logistics workforce.

The ceremony reached its highlight with Prof Dato’ Ewe and Mr Lim signing and exchanging the MoU documents. Curtains were drawn after a souvenir presentation session and group photograph.

Under the MoU, UTAR’s Faculty of Science (FSc) and MHM Global will officially begin the strategic partnership to initiate joint R&D projects, mutual visitations, industrial placement opportunities, curriculum development, et cetera in the fields of logistics, transportation and supply chains management as well as international shipping.

Other activities such as seminars, workshops and conferences will also be jointly organised, with the aim to enhance the exchange of ideas and facilities for research and curriculum development purposes. It is believed that these activities will also provide staff and students with important insights and the latest information from the industry.
