UTAR STEM Outreach organised a STEM Workshop for 38 students from Chong
Hwa High School Kuala Lumpur on 14 October 2023 at Sungai Long Campus. The
workshop was conducted by Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science
academic Assoc Prof Dr Gulnaziya Issabayeva.
The programme saw the students attending a lecture on adsorption
fundamentals and water purification, followed by a hands-on demonstration
session in the laboratory. In the laboratory, they conducted adsorption
experiments in groups, observing the effects of parameters such as
concentration and temperature. After completing the experiments, students
presented their findings in a discussion, aiming to develop critical
thinking through the integration of theory and practical experience. The
event successfully provided a comprehensive learning experience, emphasising
the application of theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios and
encouraging active participation and collaboration.
