MoU with IFM Tanzania

The Institute of Finance Management (IFM), Tanzania and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at Sungai Long Campus on 12 October 2023. The signatories were UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat and IFM Rector Prof Josephat Lotto.

Representing IFM were its Deputy Rector for Academics, Research and Consultancy Dr Imanueli Mnzava and Head of External Linkages Dr Bernard Mnzava.

Also present at the ceremony were UTAR Vice President for R&D and Commercialisation Prof Ts Dr Faidz bin Abd Rahman, Institute of Management and Leadership Development Director Prof Dr Cheng Ming Yu, Faculty of Accountancy and Management Deputy Dean for R&D and Postgraduate Programmes Dr Liew Ping Xin, Division of Community and International Networking Director Assoc Prof Dr Lai Soon Onn, Institute of Postgraduate Studies & Research Director Assoc Prof Dr Yong Thian Khok and Division of Programme Promotion Director Lee Choy Fong.

Joining online were Faculty of Information and Communication Technology Dean Prof Ts Dr Liew Soung Yue, Faculty of Business and Finance Dean Assoc Prof Dr Au Yong Hui Nee and Faculty of Business and Finance Head of Programme for PhD and MPhil programmes Dr Leong Lai Ying.

Prof Dato’ Ewe said: “As we delve into the details of this supplementary MoU, it becomes evident that the driving force behind our collaboration is the pursuit of knowledge and the exchange of ideas. We are committed to fostering an environment where learning knows no borders, and where the synergy of diverse perspectives leads to ground-breaking research and innovation. The collaboration between IFM and UTAR is not just about institutions; it's about the people, the educators, the researchers, and most importantly, the students who will benefit from this partnership.”

Prof Josephat began his speech by Introducing IFM and its courses, he also mentioned that IFM will establish PhD program and hopes to collaborate with international universities to achieve this. He later added, “Thank you UTAR for this collaboration. Together, we will be strong and go far in the future. We will work on joint research, staff exchange, and student exchanges to get global experience. Let’s keep collaborating and go beyond where we are.”
