The Department of Building and Property Management in the UTAR Faculty of
Accountancy and Management (FAM) signed an MOU with the Malaysia Institute
of Property and Facility Managers (MIPFM) on 14 September 2023 at the Bukit
Kiara Equestrian and Country Resort.
Signing for UTAR was Vice President of R&D and Commercialisation Ir Prof Dr Faidz
Abdul Rahman and signing for MIPFM was its newly elected President YBrs Sr
Haji Ishak b Ismail. Also seated at the signing ceremony table were MIPFM
Treasurer Sr Matthias Loui, MIPFM Committee Members Sr David Looi, Prof Sr
Dr Ting Kien Hwa, and Datuk Sr Firdaus Musa; and UTAR FAM Deputy Dean
(Student Development and Industrial Training) Mr Low Chin Kian, Director of
Corporate Communication & PR Ms Ong Soo Weon, Head of Department (Building
and Property Management) Sr Amalina bte Azmi, and Head of Master of Real
Estate and Development & MBA (Building Management) programmes Sr Dr Elia
Syarafina Binti Abdul Shakur.
In his speech, Sr Haji Ishak thanked UTAR for the support and looks forward to
further exchanges with the university where its members can contribute their
experience and knowledge for the benefit of the students and the university.
Prof Faidz said that UTAR is thankful to MIPFM for this university-industry
collaboration that will benefit both parties; especially, in knowledge
exchange, internships and talent management.
The MoU between UTAR and MIPFM will facilitate collaborations on talent training and
internships, talks and seminars, research and surveys, and continuing
education at UTAR. UTAR staff and students in the Department of Building and
Property Management will be involved with this partnership with MIPFM.
MIPFM held the MoU signing in conjunction with its AGM, the launching of the
prefix PMgr for its members and the new image of its e-journal.
MIPFM aims to promote the role of Property Managers, Asset Managers
and Facilities Managers in Malaysia with the aim to uphold the integrity and
the development of the profession.
