UTAR and Canon Malaysia organise photography workshop for high schoolers

UTAR Faculty of Creative Industries (FCI) Department of Multimedia Design and Animation organised a photography workshop in collaboration with Canon Malaysia for students in the Editorial Board of Methodist Boys’ School, Kuala Lumpur on 6 September. The workshop aimed to educate students on various aspects of photography, including understanding the mechanics of the camera to enhance their ability to capture high-quality images using manual settings, mastering the art of composing visually appealing photos through fundamental photography principles like the rule of thirds, effectively utilising both flash and natural lighting techniques for illuminating subjects, and developing the skills to photograph in diverse settings, be it outdoors or indoors.

The workshop was planned and organised by FCI lecturer Puan Suhaila binti Ahmad Zaki and she was assisted by FCI lecturer Ms K. Jeevamalar and Puan Mariah binti M Johari. Canon Electro-Optical System (EOS) Master Mr Andrew Koh Chee Hong was invited as the speaker and trainer of the workshop and the technical equipment in the workshop— the cameras were provided by Canon Malaysia.

The Principal of Methodist Boys’ School, Kuala Lumpur Mr Toh Kok Min, and the PTA (Parents Teacher Association) Chairperson, Mr Wong Tuck Wai, attended the workshop to show their support and gratitude. They were happy that UTAR and Canon Malaysia were generous and proactive in giving back to the community and helping the young generation.
