DHR organises EPF talk for staff and students

UTAR Division of Human Resource (DHR) in collaboration with the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) jointly organised an event titled “A Day with EPF at UTAR” on 5 September 2023 at UTAR Kampar Campus.

The programme aimed at providing a briefing on EPF products and services to UTAR staff members and students. The programme also included a financial talk, which was delivered by EPF Teluk Intan Advisor of Retirement Advisory Services Section, Nik Mohammad Syamil Iman Md Rosdi.

Mohammad Syamil explaining the importance of EPF saving as one of the retirement funds

Mohammad Syamil said, “The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) is one of the world’s oldest provident funds. Established in 1951, we help the Malaysian workforce to save for their retirement in accordance with the Employees Provident Fund Act 1991. Today, we at the EPF continue to refine our vision to not only stay relevant but to create a better retirement for all our members. This strengthens our commitment to safeguarding our members’ savings and increasing our dedication to providing excellent services.”

He added, “In tandem with our main vision in helping members achieve a better future, we have extended our mandate to include aiding national infrastructural development while safeguarding and growing members’ retirement savings.”

The programme also covered the account structure, EPF scheme, concept of basic savings, voluntary contribution and a few case studies to provide participants with a better understanding of the EPF.

The speaker highlighted some schemes offered by EPF, namely i-Saraan, i-Suri, and i-Lindung. He also shed some light on the different schemes offered by EPF and their objectives to the participants.

The talk also explained how important the retirement phase is in a person’s life. Retirement is a time when one can finally relax, travel, and enjoy the fruits of their labour. However, achieving a comfortable and secure retirement requires careful planning and preparation, no matter where one is in his or her career. It is never too early or too late to start planning for the future.

On top of that, EPF also set up mini counters to provide EPF services to UTAR staff and students. Among the services provided were the registration of EPF members, EPF i-Akuan, i-Saraan scheme, i-Lindung, optional additional contribution, voluntary contribution and enquiries related to EPF products.
