CFS cultivates science education and motivation for success among SMJK San Min and SMK Taman Perwira students

UTAR Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) of Kampar Campus spearheaded two dynamic projects to ignite motivation and nurture interest in science within young minds at SMJK San Min and SMK Taman Perwira.

Held as part of the UTAR-SMJK San Min Talent Development Project, CFS Kampar Campus academic Mr Pan Wai Seng fascinated an audience of 267 Form 4 students on 11 March 2024 with his engaging talk on “The importance of science subjects and its future challenges”. Mr Pan underscored the profound impact of science and emphasised its significance in today’s world. Furthermore, he shed light on the various challenges that await future generations.

“The talk effectively highlighted the importance of science and has enhanced my understanding of AI and IT career prospects,” remarked Divesh Anbarasan, a Form 4 STEM 1 student. Lim Xuan Tong, also a Form 4 STEM 1 student, expressed, “Science is a double-edged sword; it brings both good and bad to human life. The talk made me realise how much more there is to learn about science’s positive impacts, especially how it can further improve our lives. Besides, I also gained valuable career insights from the talk.”

Meanwhile, on 15 March 2024, CFS Kampar Campus Department of Management and Accountancy Head Ms Tsen Tzu Yee took the stage at SMK Taman Perwira with an inspiring talk titled “How to find your motivation within to succeed”.  Ms Tsen navigated a total of 501 Form 3, Form 4 and Form 5 students through the sphere of motivation, helping students uncover their inner drive. From setting achievable goals to overcoming obstacles, Ms Tsen provided the participants with practical advice throughout the session.

Tan Min Hui from Form 5 Class UKM reflected, “Through this talk, I realised the importance of setting goals. Moreover, I learned that motivation comes in various forms.” Tan Min Lin, another Form 5 Class UKM student, added, “This talk has inspired me to set a clear goal to improve my academic performance. I understand now that figuring out my true aspirations is important in finding my inner motivation.”
