UTAR Council Member donates 200 packed meals to B40 students

UTAR Council Member Mr Hew Fen Yee sponsored and donated 200 packed meals to UTAR B40 students at the Grand Kampar Hotel on 29 March 2024.

The recipe for the Taiwanese-flavored packed meals was specially selected and cooked by a team of 28 professional chefs from Taiwan, who visited the UTAR Hospital in Kampar earlier the same day.

Led by the Chairman of the Taiwan Chefs Association (TCA), Mr Alan Ho, the food distribution was part of the “Taiwan Culinary Charity Cooking Event” (台湾厨艺慈善义煮), a collaboration involving the Asia Chinese Traders Federation (ACTF), the Taiwan Chefs Association and UTAR which will be officially launched on 5 July 2024.

Showcasing love through cooking, the Taiwan Culinary Charity Cooking Event aims to raise funds for both medical and non-medical facilities at UTAR Hospital.

Before concluding their trip, the TCA team paid a visit to UTAR Sungai Long Campus. Representing the UTAR President, Vice President for Internationalisation and Academic Development Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min warmly welcomed the team and expressed gratitude for their thoughtful initiative to provide food assistance to needy students and raise funds for UTAR Hospital.

UTAR extends its heartfelt appreciation to Mr Hew Fen Yee, TCA and ACTF for the initiative in support of B40 UTAR students and UTAR Hospital.

Additionally, the TCA and ACTF teams collaborated with a temple in Teluk Intan to voluntarily prepare 700 packed meals and distribute them to the local public, nursing homes, orphanages, and charity centres on 30 March 2024.
