ImagineX Career Fair 2024 organising

The ImagineX Career Fair 2024, organised by the
Graphic Design and Multimedia Society and Corporate Communication Society,
unfolded at UTAR Sungai Long Campus from 8 April to 9 April 2024. With a
primary focus on facilitating connections between students and industries,
the event showcased a diverse array of opportunities for mentorships,
internships, and career advancement.
UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat was
present at the opening ceremony of the ImagineX Career Fair 2024.
Accompanying him were Faculty of Creative Industries (FCI) Dean Dr David
Tneh Cheng Eng, FCI Mass Communication Department Head Mr Kenneth Lee Tze
Wui, Organising Committee Chairperson Cheng Hui Xin, esteemed guests, UTAR
staff and students.
Prof Dato’ Ewe, in his speech, said, “As we embark on
this journey together, let us remember the importance of collaboration and
mutual support. The road to success is rarely travelled alone, and it is
through collective effort and shared wisdom that we can truly make a
difference. Let us embrace this opportunity to connect, learn, and grow
together, laying the foundation for a future filled with boundless
possibilities.”

Dr David Tneh, on the other hand, highlighted the
extensive planning involved in making the event possible. He also emphasised
the event’s goal, which aimed to provide valuable career insights and
opportunities to students. Besides, encouraging students to engage with
companies and explore future career paths, he also stressed the importance
of embracing challenges and pursuing one’s passions. Referencing insights
from NVIDIA’s CEO Jensen Huang, he urged attendees to undertake endeavours
they are passionate about and persevere through challenges.

Following the speeches, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was
held to officially inaugurate the career fair. Subsequently, the tokens of
appreciation were presented to the President, Dean, Head of Department, and
competition judges by the organising committee. Prof Dato’ Ewe was then
invited to award prizes to the winners of the brand design, website design,
and videography competitions.

The career fair boasted participation from 28
esteemed companies, offering valuable insights into various industries and

The booths set up featured inspired merchandise and
culinary delights. Notable highlights included a career talk by Mr Shawn
Goh, a renowned brand creative designer and creative director, and
captivating performances such as song, music band and Diabolo performances.
Attendees also had the chance to participate in a lucky draw session, adding
an element of excitement to the event.
