The UTAR Sungai Long Music Club’s
annual concert, Band-Age, concluded successfully on 30 June 2024 at the Multipurpose Hall of UTAR Sungai Long Campus. This
third iteration of the concert, themed
Reborn Anew, showcased exhilarating, emotional, and wholesome
performances by the performance team and the committee members.
The concert attracted hundreds of
participants, including UTARians, students from other universities, and
parents. Also present were UTAR Vice President for Student Development and
Alumni Relations Prof Dr Choong Chee Keong and Music Club Advisor and Centre
for Foundation Studies (CFS) lecturer Ms Christina John.
The first performance featured guest
performers from New Era University College’s I DO Music Club, marking the
debut of an external university at the UTAR Sungai Long Music Club concert.

The concert was structured around
three compelling themes that reflected the human journey through adversity
and renewal. The themes were (1) End
of the line, symbolising one’s lowest moments and the yearning for a
better future; (2) Undying Spirit,
finding hope in people and situations around; and (3)
Reborn Anew, which signifies the
spirit’s rebirth, embracing change and freedom, marking a new chapter in
life.
The concert featured 24 song
performances across a variety of genres, including pop, rock, and classical
music, all by Music Club members. A notable highlight was the club’s string
ensemble, which included classical instruments like the violin, cello, and
piano. Memorable performances included renditions of “You Give Love A Bad
Name”, “Golden Hour”, “Yellow”, “爱人错过”
and “A Sky Full of Stars”.
