Reviving the Excitement: The UTAR Staff Intercampus Friendship Games 2024 Returns

To foster sportsmanship, team spirit, and camaraderie among UTAR staff from both Kampar and Sungai Long Campuses, and UTAR Hospital, the UTAR Staff Sports and Recreation Club (USSRC) of Kampar Campus, in collaboration with the USSRC of Sungai Long Campus, organised the “UTAR Staff Intercampus Friendship Games 2024” on 27 and 28 July 2024 at UTAR Kampar Campus. The closing ceremony took place on 28 July 2024 at UTAR Kampar Sports Complex.

This year, the Intercampus Friendship Games featured football, badminton, netball, futsal, and bowling, drawing over 100 participants consisting of both academic and non-academic staff.

Tele-match games

Special activities, such as a Zumba session and tele-match games attracted participants from various age groups.

The UTAR Staff Intercampus Friendship Games 2024 is an annual event held between UTAR Kampar Campus and UTAR Sungai Long Campus staff. The event serves as one of the team-building enhancement activities.

This was the third UTAR Staff Intercampus Friendship Games; the first was held in February 2020, followed by the second match in 2023.

The UTAR Staff Intercampus Friendship Games 2024 ended with a prize-giving ceremony, graced by UTAR President's Office Senior General Manager Ms Yim Lin Heng representing UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat, UTAR Vice President for Student Development and Alumni Relations Prof Dr Choong Chee Keong, and UTAR Sungai Long Campus Administrator Director Dr Tan Kee Kong.

Kampar Campus emerged as the overall champion of the UTAR Staff Intercampus Friendship Games 2024.

The USSRC Kampar Campus Chairperson and UTAR Staff Intercampus Friendship Games 2024 Organising Chairperson, Mr Prakash Rama said, “The UTAR Staff Intercampus Friendship Games 2024 was a tremendous success, full of vibrant energy and exceptional teamwork. It was truly inspiring to witness the staff from Kampar Campus, Sungai Long Campus, and UTAR Hospital come together in a remarkable display of sportsmanship and camaraderie.”

He added, “Congratulations to all participants and winners for their outstanding performances. A heartfelt thank you to the organising committee, participants, supporters, and family members who joined, as well as everyone who contributed to making this event unforgettable. Let’s build on this enthusiasm and continue to strengthen the friendships and team spirit that make our UTAR community truly exceptional.”
