Insightful accounting career talk at Poi Lam High School

A team of Faculty of Business and Finance (FBF) academics conducted a sharing session, which included four talks and an interactive Q&A segment, for more than 200 students from Poi Lam High School in Ipoh, Perak. The session also involved six school teachers.

The Head of the Department of Commerce and Accountancy, Ms Sonia Johanthan, served as the emcee and coordinator of the event. Ms Foo Pik Yin was the first speaker, who introduced and promoted UTAR Kampar’s Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) Accounting programme to the participants. Ms Loh Chun T'ing shared her practical experiences as a professional auditor and discussed career paths for Accounting graduates.

Next, the third and fourth speakers, Ms Chin Yoon Mei and Dr Tan Swee Kiow enlightened the participants about the pathways to becoming members of the prestigious ACCA and CIMA organisations. Since Ms Chin was teaching at UTAR during the session, a pre-recorded video of Ms Chin was played instead, captivating the audience with her lecture.

All participants were delighted to receive brochures containing information about UTAR’s Foundation and Bachelor of Commerce programmes. The informative session concluded with an interactive Q&A segment, where five proactive participants who answered questions correctly were awarded prizes.
