Navigating Financial Futures: A Day with EPF at UTAR

The Division of Human Resource (DHR) at UTAR Sungai Long Campus organised an event titled “A Day with EPF at UTAR” on 6 August 2024. The objective of the event was to provide UTAR staff and students with knowledge about retirement savings.

The event featured an insightful talk by Relationship Advisory (EPF Kajang Branch) Mr Muhammad Asyraf bin Mohd Kamal. Mr Muhammad Asyraf, in his talk, provided a comprehensive overview of retirement savings, emphasising the important role of EPF in securing financial well-being. Mr Muhammad Asyraf stated that many people nowadays often overlook the importance of saving, despite it being essential for future planning. Furthermore, he introduced the latest developments concerning EPF Account 3, a flexible account that allows people to withdraw their savings anytime, and discussed EPF’s digital transformation, including their AI initiative.

During the talk, Mr Muhammad Asyraf explained how contributions to EPF are strategically distributed across Accounts 1, 2, and 3, and highlighted the life-long engagement individuals can have with EPF, starting from the age of 14 until 75. Over 50 participants attended, engaging enthusiastically during the Q&A session and gaining deeper insights into the benefits of savings and EPF’s role in financial planning. Also present were DHR Director Ms Marchie Lim Pin Sim and Deputy Director Mr We Chin Yong.

An EPF mobile counter was also set up at UTAR Sungai Long Campus, providing practical assistance, including registration of new members, activation of the EPF mobile application I-Akaun online service, registration of Simpanan Shariah, and guidance on additional and voluntary contributions. Participants also received support with nomination services, fingerprint verification for EPF products and services, Account 3 withdrawals, and other queries.

Overall, the event “A Day with EPF at UTAR” was a significant success, as it offered valuable insights into the benefits of EPF and enhanced the understanding of retirement planning among the participants.
