USSRC SL appreciation lunch celebrates team spirit

An Appreciation Lunch was held to celebrate and recognise the effort and achievements of the staff members, who participated in the UTAR Staff Inter-Campus Friendly Games 2024. The lunch, which was hosted by the UTAR Staff Sports and Recreation Club Sungai Long Campus Management Committee (USSRC-SL) on 6 August 2024 at UTAR Sungai Long Campus, aimed to build camaraderie, foster a spirit of unity among the diverse staff community and highlight individual talents as well as teamwork.

Present were UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat, Vice President for Internationalisation and Academic Development Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min, Vice President for R&D and Commercialisation Prof Ts Dr Faidz bin Abd Rahman, Vice President for Student Development and Alumni Relations Prof Dr Choong Chee Keong, Registrar Ms Loh Siaw Yien, USSRC SL Chairman Encik Mohd Alfiha bin Mat Tarihan, directors, and USSRC SL members.

Prof Dato’ Ewe said, “At UTAR, we believe that sports play a vital role in fostering a strong, connected community among our staff. Engaging in physical activities not only enhances our well-being but also strengthens the bonds of teamwork and collaboration. The recent UTAR Staff Inter-Campus Friendly Games have exemplified how sports can bring us together, celebrate our collective achievements, and create lasting memories. I am hopeful that we will continue to embrace and support such events in the future, as they are crucial in nurturing a vibrant, supportive, and energetic university community.”

Mr Mohd Alfiha said, “The event is not about winning. It’s about coming together, having fun, and showing great sportsmanship. Your effort, spirit, and dedication made these games special. A big thank you to everyone for making this event successful and enjoyable. Let us continue to support each other in sports and everything we do. Together we can achieve great things and build a vibrant UTAR community.”

Institute of Postgraduate Studies & Research staff Encik Mohd Faizal bin Abu Bakar shared, “The UTAR Staff Inter-Campus Friendly Games showcased our unity and enthusiasm. It’s moments like these that remind us of the vibrant and supportive community we’re building at UTAR.”

Centre for Foundation Studies (Sungai Long Campus) staff Ms Yee Sau Fun shared, “Participating in the games highlighted the joy of collaboration and the spirit of friendship.”
