Maybank Day at UTAR, supported by the Global Maybank Apprentice Programme (GMAP), took place at UTAR Sungai Long Campus on 16 July 2024. The event included walk-in interviews and a career workshop for UTAR students, attracting a total of 278 students, including 11 students from the Bachelor of Finance (Honours) programme at the Faculty of Business and Finance (FBF), UTAR Kampar Campus.

The committee members of the event included Faculty of Accountancy and Management (FAM) academics Puan Robaisya binti Rahmat, Dr Farah Waheeda binti Jalaludin, Puan Ezatul Emilia binti Muhammad Arif, and Ms Hooi Pik Hua @ Rae Hooi.

The day commenced with a game session led by Maybank staff, engaging 91 students who enjoyed testing their trivia knowledge about Maybank.

The walk-in interview session ran throughout the day, providing students the opportunity to be hired by Maybank. The interview session saw the participation of 54 students, including Maybank Youth Ambassador, Haw Kai Yi from the Bachelor of Finance (Financial Technology) with Honours programme at the Faculty of Accountancy and Management (FAM), UTAR Sungai Long Campus. This allowed the participating students to bypass the lengthy application process by having one-on-one interviews on the spot with Maybank recruiters. Additionally, the “Career Preparatory Workshop” led by Mr Mohd Naufal, Group Human Capital Resourcing Specialist, educated students on how to prepare for their internships and job search as they transition into the professional world.

Additionally, he provided guidance on preparing for job interviews, emphasising the importance of self-awareness and understanding the job scope prior to the interview, as well as advising on appropriate interview attire.

The session concluded with a Q&A segment, giving students the opportunity to have their questions addressed.
