Jelajah HPV di Negeri Perak: UTAR hosts significant cancer prevention event with Royal Patronage

The Jelajah HPV di Negeri Perak Darul RidzuanMenoktahkan Kanser Serviks bersama DYMM Raja Permaisuri Perak Darul Ridzuan event was held at the Heritage Hall of UTAR Kampar Campus on 22 August 2024, with the esteemed presence of Duli Yang Maha Mulia Raja Permaisuri Perak Darul Ridzuan, Tuanku Zara Salim, who graciously presided over the programme as its Royal Patron.

Upon her arrival, Duli Yang Maha Mulia Raja Permaisuri Perak Darul Ridzuan, Tuanku Zara Salim was warmly welcomed and received by the spouse of Menteri Besar Perak Darul Ridzuan, Datin Seri Aezer binti Zubin, UTAR Education Foundation Board of Trustees Chairman, Tan Sri Dato’ Dr Sak Cheng Lum and Puan Sri Irene Sak, and the President of National Cancer Society Malaysia, Dato’ Dr Saunthari Somasundaram.

Also present were spouse of Orang Kaya Bendahara Seri Maharaja, Toh Puan Datin Seri DiRaja Puan Sri Rasiah binti Md Nor, spouse of Yang di-Pertua Dewan Negeri Perak, Datin Aznee binti Abu Samah, Orang Besar Jajahan Kampar, Yang DiHormati Toh Sedewa Raja Datuk Abdul Talib bin Abdul Fahmi and his spouse Datin Jamaliah binti Haji Hanif, Pegawai Daerah Kampar, Encik Nazrul Fazami bin Mohamad and his spouse Puan Suraya Hani binti Harun, Pengarah Kesihatan Negeri Perak, Dr Feisul Idzwan bin Mustapha, Yang Dipertua Majlis Daerah Kampar, Encik Ahmad Suqairy bin Alias, UTAR Vice Presidents, Prof Ts Dr Faidz bin Abd Rahman and Prof Dr Choong Chee Keong, other officials, and participants.

The programme conducted in UTAR, Kampar saw active participation, with a total of 1,832 individuals from both the UTAR and Kampar communities receiving the vaccine, reflecting a collective commitment to public health and cancer prevention.

The Jelajah HPV di Negeri Perak Darul RidzuanMenoktahkan Kanser Serviks bersama DYMM Raja Permaisuri Perak Darul Ridzuan marked a significant step forward in NCSM’s mission to enhance cancer awareness and prevention across Malaysia, particularly by making the HPV vaccine more accessible to underserved communities. This vaccination initiative, organised by the National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM), aimed to prevent HPV-related cancers through widespread vaccination.

The programme primarily targeted individuals aged 13 to 26, with the goal of reducing the risk of HPV-related cancers, including cervical cancer, through early vaccination.

UTAR is honoured to be part of this initiative in support of cancer awareness and prevention among the Perakians.
