MICPA x CA ANZ Lounge

A dedicated space to inspire professional growth and collaboration among students, MICPA x CA ANZ Lounge was launched on 26 November 2024 at UTAR Sungai Long Campus. The lounge was made possible through the generous sponsorship of The Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ).

Present at the launching ceremony were CA ANZ International Development General Manager Ms Geraldine Magarey FCA, UTAR Vice President for R&D and Commercialisation Prof Ts Dr Faidz bin Abd Rahman, CA ANZ Regional Manager Malaysia Mr Divian Gangnadharan, Faculty of Accountancy and Management Dean Dr Pok Wei Fong, FAM Department of Accountancy academic Ms Zufara Arneeda Zulfakar, Accounting Society UTAR Sungai Long Campus 2024/25 Chairperson Lim Zhong Wei, students and staff.

In his speech, Prof Faidz expressed his gratitude to MICPA and CA ANZ for their unwavering support. He described the lounge as “not just a room, but a symbol of collaboration and a hub of opportunity.” He emphasised that the lounge will serve as a platform for students to connect, collaborate and engage in academic and professional activities that will prepare them for future leadership roles.

Ms Geraldine Magarey also shared her enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting their shared commitment to nurturing globally competent and ethical professionals. “We are proud to partner with UTAR in establishing this lounge, which reflects our shared commitment to nurturing globally competent, ethical professionals who will shape the future of the accounting profession.”

Lim expressed, “The MICPA x CA ANZ Lounge is a place that inspires us to strive for excellence and build connections that will shape our careers. On behalf of the students, I thank MICPA and CA ANZ for their generous support and for providing this meaningful space for us to learn and grow.”

The lounge is designed as a versatile space for workshops, consultations and discussions. It underscores the strong partnership between UTAR and industry leaders in advancing professional education and creating opportunities for students to excel in their careers.

UTAR extends its heartfelt thanks to MICPA and CA ANZ for their invaluable contributions and looks forward to many more collaborations that will benefit the university community and beyond.
