IMLD and IFM Tanzania collaborate on training programme to enhance financial resilience

The Institute of Management and Leadership Development (IMLD) at UTAR, in collaboration with the Institute of Finance Management (IFM), Tanzania, organised a training programme on “Mastering Budgetary Pressures: Strategies for Financial Resilience” from 29 October 2024 to 6 November 2024.

The programme was specifically designed for the delegates of the Ministry of Finance, Tanzania, focusing on empowering them with essential financial management and budgeting strategies. The programme commenced with a warm welcome and briefing by IMLD Director Prof Dr Cheng Ming Yu, who highlighted the significance of the event in fostering international collaboration and sharing best practices in financial resilience.

The training featured an engaging mix of theoretical sessions, workshops, assignments, and field visits. Participants explored budgeting fundamentals, controls, and forecasting techniques at the training. Through interactive group discussions, they shared their experiences and tackled common budgetary challenges. Workshops provided the participants with knowledge of budget strategy and sustainable budgeting frameworks, preparing them for practical challenges in strategic financial planning. The delegates also visited the Private Pension Administrator (PPA) Malaysia and Bank Negara Malaysia, which highlighted innovative technologies in budget management.

The programme concluded with a reflection session, followed by a certificate presentation by Prof Cheng. This programme marked a significant milestone in fostering international partnerships with Tanzania, strengthening ties between the two economies while promoting knowledge exchange and capacity building in public financial management.
