UTAR Sungai Long Toastmasters Club receiving President’s Distinguished
Club award for the 2023-2024 term
The UTAR Sungai Long Toastmasters Club marked a
significant milestone on 20 October 2024 by receiving the President’s
Distinguished Club award for the 2023-2024 term. The award was presented
during the District 102 Annual Awards Ceremony at the KSL Esplanade Hotel in
Klang, Selangor, recognising the club’s dedication to excellence in
leadership and communication. Representing the club were Club Advisor and
Vice President of Membership DTM Dr Saraswathy Thurairaj, Club President TM
Thong Meng Seng and Vice President of Education TM Teo Yi Qi.
This achievement reflects the
club’s collective efforts over the years, showcasing the commitment and hard
work of its members and leaders. Attaining the President’s Distinguished
Club status underscores its commitment to fostering personal and
professional growth among members while maintaining high performance
standards.
The club’s legacy of excellence is built on the
contributions of past and present leaders. Notable past presidents include
Eric Fong (2018/19, Faculty of Accountancy and Management), (2019/20, Lee
Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering & Science), and Thomas Wong (2021/22, Lee
Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering & Science). This tradition of exemplary
leadership continued in 2023/24 under TM Thong Meng Seng from the Faculty of
Accountancy and Management, guiding the club to yet another distinguished
accomplishment.

The award given to DTM Dr Saraswathy
Adding to the celebration, DTM Dr Saraswathy, a stalwart member of the Toastmasters community,
received recognition as the Select
Distinguished Area E4 Director for 2023-2024 by District 102
Toastmasters International. She achieved this recognition while overseeing
six clubs in Area E4, namely Personal Development Toastmasters Club, OUM
Toastmasters Club, Super Speakers Toastmasters Club, Share & Inspire
Toastmasters Club, NSCA Toastmasters Club, and Energy Workforce Toastmasters
Club.
She also accepted the President’s Distinguished Club
award on behalf of the Share & Inspire Toastmasters Club, which she founded
and leads as the Chartered President. This dual recognition underscores her
steadfast commitment to fostering leadership and communication excellence.
Notably, some of the UTAR lecturers
are also members of this club, contributing their expertise and
enthusiasm to its success.
