A team of 10 UTAR staff members and students volunteered at the “Relay for Life 2024 Perak”, held at Padang Polo, Ipoh, on 8 December 2024. Organised by the National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM), the half-a-day event brought together over 800 participants to support cancer survivors, remember loved ones and raise funds for cancer support initiatives.
The event featured a variety of engaging activities on the day, which included a 5km Fun Run, a 4x4 Relay Race, a Survivors’ Steps Challenge, a Treasure Hunt, and a Zumba session. As volunteers, the UTAR team played an important role in assisting with event coordination.
The event also witnessed the participation of organisations like the Lions Club Ipoh, Rotary Club Ipoh, Pantai Hospital, Quest International University, Pink Unity, MCIS Life, Childhood Cancer Survivor Perak and Royal Qigong Malaysia, reflecting a strong sense of community and collaboration.
UTAR is proud to have been part of this meaningful initiative, reinforcing its commitment to community service and supporting important causes like cancer awareness and support. The university extends its gratitude to the organisers, participants and fellow volunteers for their efforts in making “Relay for Life 2024 Malaysia” a remarkable success.
