Echoes of Yesterday explores connection between past and present through art

The online exhibition “Echoes of Yesterday” offered an evocative journey into the past, presenting a blend of cherished memories and modern interpretations. Hosted on the ArtSteps platform, this thoughtfully curated showcase illustrated how elements from bygone eras continued to influence and shape our present lives through visual art.

The exhibition was organised by the Centre for Foundation Studies of Sungai Long Campus (CFS-SL) and brought to life by a dedicated team of staff and students. The artistic creations were contributed by the talented students of FHAD1024 Analytical Drawing (202406 Trimester) from CFS-SL, with support from CFS-SL academics. Their collaborative efforts ensured a seamless and immersive experience that highlighted the artistic and emotional narratives woven into each exhibit.

The online exhibition “Echoes of Yesterday”

At its core, “Echoes of Yesterday” sought to bridge the gap between generations, demonstrating the enduring emotional and cultural impact of artifacts, images and stories passed down through time. Visitors were introduced to deeply nostalgic compositions, such as the poignant scene of a grandparent’s old photograph held by a young child—a powerful symbol of familial legacy. Other pieces, like a vivid depiction of a vintage beach trip, provided a striking contrast, highlighting the rich tapestry of experiences that formed our collective heritage.

The virtual format allowed for a self-guided exploration, making it accessible to art enthusiasts worldwide.
