DMDA final-year students flaunt their creativity at Hipxy Exhibition 2023

A total of 26 Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Graphic Design and Multimedia final-year students from UTAR Faculty of Creative Industries (FCI) Department of Multimedia Design and Animation (DMDA) unveiled their impressive final year projects (FYP) at the Hipxy Exhibition 2023, held from 16 to 18 December 2023 at Hall 2 and 3, Menara KEN TTDI.

The exhibition provided a platform for students to showcase their talents in animation, branding, publication (magazine), and website design. Under the guidance of their mentors, FCI DMDA academics Dr Hasleena binti Hamzah and Mr Mohamad Faiz bin Md Khalid, these talented students demonstrated their skills and artistic prowess, marking the culmination of their academic journey.

The exhibition was graced by FCI Dean Dr David Tneh Cheng Eng, Deputy Dean for Academic Development and Undergraduate Programmes Assoc Prof Mr Thinavan Periyayya and DMDA Head Dr Wan Irma Sabrina binti Idris. Their attendance underscored the significance of the event and demonstrated the university’s commitment to fostering a culture of creativity and academic excellence.

 

Audiences at the exhibition

Adding to the vibrancy of the event, 34 Year 3 Semester 2 students from the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Graphic Design and Multimedia programme attended the exhibition. Arriving by a specially arranged UTAR bus, coordinated by FCI DMDA academic Ms Jeevamalar Kumarasamy, these students came to show their support for their senior peers. The visit also served as a valuable learning experience for the juniors, offering insights and inspiration as they prepare for their own FYP exhibition in the upcoming trimester.


A showcase of talents by students

The exhibition not only provided a platform for students to exhibit their talents but also fostered a sense of community within the department, encouraging collaboration and knowledge-sharing. As the curtains closed on the three-day event, the Hipxy Exhibition 2023 left an indelible mark on both the participants and attendees. The diverse range of projects showcased not only the technical skills of the students but also their ability to think critically and innovatively.
