A delectable aroma wafts through
the campus corridors as OYeAH, an exciting new start-up founded by
enterprising students, makes its mark in the world of pastries and
beverages. With a commitment to quality and a passion for entrepreneurship,
OYeAH aims to bring delightful treats to the campus and local community.
OYeAH was founded by UTAR Bachelor of Chemical Engineering with Honours
student Ong Zhi Win and Anglia Ruskin University, UK graduate Ong Yu Shin.
OYeAH, which specialises in an
array of mouth-watering treats including bagels, croissants, Belgian
waffles, banana puffs, desserts, and drinks, has become the go-to spot for
students seeking a delightful snack between classes. The diverse menu at
OYeAH, ranging from flaky croissants to tempting desserts and refreshing
beverages, shows the team’s commitment to quality and innovation.
This entrepreneurial venture did
not just rise out of the blue; it was nurtured with the support of Unovate,
a platform that encourages students to explore their businesses and turn
their entrepreneurial dreams into reality. The students behind OYeAH
discovered the opportunities Unovate offered for collaboration on business
plans and seized the chance to embark on their entrepreneurial journey.
Motivated by a desire to make a
difference and fueled by their passion for entrepreneurship, the OYeAH team
presented their business proposals to Unovate, outlining their vision for a
campus-based pastry haven. With Unovate’s guidance, the dream transformed
into a reality, and OYeAH was born. The start-up not only caters to the
campus community but has also expanded its reach by setting up stalls at
local night markets. The decision to diversify and explore different markets
showcases the entrepreneurial spirit and adaptability of the OYeAH team.
Zhi Win said, “Do not be afraid to
try out the things you want to do in life as there are always endless
possibilities to explore and learn. Being challenged in life is inevitable;
I believe success is measured by the obstacles we have overcome.
Moving forward, we aim to open more kiosks and reach a broader
audience.”
She added, “Unovate assisted us in
different ways, by inviting us to participate in flea markets, food fairs
and events held at the campus to increase OYeAH’s exposure to the UTAR
community and members of the public. We thank Unovate for playing a pivotal
role in supporting and advising us throughout our start-up journey. Such
collaborative effort exemplifies the power of fostering entrepreneurship
within educational institutions and creating opportunities for students to
explore their potential beyond the classroom.”
