MoU signing between UTAR and Lipidgroup Sdn Bhd

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony was held between UTAR and Lipidgroup Sdn Bhd (LPG) on 18 January 2024 at Sungai Long Campus.

The MoU aimed to promote collaborative research, knowledge exchange, staff exchanges, industrial study visits, student placement, and community engagement projects to enhance learning experiences, professional development, curriculum development, and societal contribution.

The signatories were UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat and LPG Managing Director Ms Leow Min Min. While witnessing the signing were UTAR Vice President for Internationalisation and Academic Development Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min and LPG Director (Head of Business Development) Ms Tan Peh Fen.

Also present at the event were Aurora Health Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer Ms Laurel Tan Bee Hiong, LPG Marketing Executives Ms Anis Shazwina and Ms Aileen Syahira, and LPG Managing Director personal assistant Ms Peggy Chang. UTAR Faculty of Business and Finance (FBF) Dean Assoc Prof Dr Au Yong Hui Nee, FBF Head of Department of Marketing Dr Choy Johnn Yee, FBF Head of Department of Commerce and Accountancy Ms Sonia Johanthan, and Office of International Affairs (OIA) Director Assoc Prof Dr Lai Soon Onn were present as well.

Prof Dato’ Ewe said, “Today’s MoU signifies our shared commitment to fostering innovation, advancing research, and providing meaningful learning experiences for our students. I am delighted that through this MoU, we will be initiating joint projects involving collaborative research by pooling our resources, expertise, and insights. Together, we will explore new frontiers, address pressing challenges, and contribute to the body of knowledge that transcends the boundaries of academia and industry. Such collaboration not only enriches our intellectual capital but also propels us towards innovative solutions with real-world implications.”

He concluded, “As we embark on this collaborative journey, let us do so with a spirit of openness, innovation, and shared purpose. Together, UTAR and LPG can create a ripple effect of positive change, not only within our institutions but in the broader landscape of research, education, and community development.”

Ms Leow delivering her speech

Ms Leow began her speech by introducing LPG and its skincare product brand Remdii. She also addressed eczema problems faced by people in the community nowadays. She said, “Through this MoU, I hope we can provide something useful for the students on the commercialisation path. With this, the students will be able to learn about the actual work and what it entails, while we learn about the young people.”
