Career pathways talk at SMJK San Min
As an initiative to introduce secondary school students to myriad career opportunities available in the realms of Arts and Business, UTAR Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) of Kampar Campus organised a talk titled “Career Pathways for Arts and Business Studies” at SMJK San Min on 18 January 2024. Held as part of the UTAR-SMJK San Min Talent Development Project, the enlightening event successfully convened a total of 125 Form 4 students.
Leading the students through this enriching talk was CFS Kampar Campus Department of Management and Accountancy Head Ms Tsen Tzu Yee. Ms Tsen commenced the event by administering and explaining the RIASEC test, allowing students to identify their interests and capabilities in various career categories. She then delved into the diverse career pathways available in the fields of Arts and Business.
As the event unfolded, Ms Tsen presented a comprehensive overview of the in-demand jobs over the next decade and the in-demand skills that enhance employability in a competitive job market. The session also featured interactive sessions, allowing students to actively participate and share their thoughts.
The talk resonated well with the participants, garnering positive feedback. Teng Zhi Leong, a student from Form 4 Seni, shared, “This talk was truly beneficial to me as I gained valuable insights into my interests and the career pathway that suits me, specifically in the fields of interior design and information technology.” Casper Leong Kai Fong, another student from Form 4 Sastera 1, expressed, “This talk is constructive! It provided clarity about my future pathway and helped me in discovering my interest in game design.”
