Presentation of plaque of appreciation to Bodhi Meditation Charity Foundation

The presentation of a plaque of appreciation to the Bodhi Meditation Charity Foundation was held on 26 December 2023 at UTAR Sungai Long Campus. The purpose of the ceremony was to show gratitude to the Foundation for awarding the JinBodhi Bursary to UTAR students.

The representatives from Bodhi Meditation Charity Foundation were Chairman Teacher Ling Shan, Board of Trustees of Bodhi Meditation Charity Foundation committee members Teacher Fu Han, Brother Xu Te, Sister Dong Cao and Brother Wen Jun, and Bodhi Meditation Charity Foundation guests Sister Wen You and Sister Huai Ze.

They were welcomed by UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat, UTAR Vice President for Student Development and Alumni Relations Prof Dr Choong Chee Keong, President’s Office Senior General Manager Ms Yim Lin Heng, Division of Finance Director Ms Loh Lee Mooi, Division of Admissions and Credit Evaluation (Sungai Long Campus) Head Ms Ng Yann Fen and Department of International Student Services (Sungai Long Campus) Assistant Manager Mr Ng Chee Hong.

Prof Dato’ Ewe said, “Sometimes, talented and passionate students are unable to pursue their studies due to economic difficulties. In such moments, the JinBodhi Bursary provides hope and opportunities for these students. We express gratitude for the trust and support extended to UTAR and our students. This trust and support afford us the opportunity to continue striving for excellence in the field of education, nurturing batches of individuals with ideals, morality, and culture.”

Teacher Ling Shan said in his speech, “The Bodhi Meditation Charity Foundation has collaborated with UTAR for six years. During these six years, the foundation has supported 159 students, with 135 of them having graduated and entered society. They aspire to give back to society after graduation and contribute their efforts to make a positive impact. Over these six years, we have sponsored approximately 2.88 million to UTAR, and we will continue to strive to support these students. We also call upon members of society to contribute through our annual fundraising activities. This plaque of appreciation not only expresses thanks to Grandmaster Jin Bodhi and the Bodhi Meditation Charity Foundation but also symbolises the long-standing collaboration between the Bodhi Meditation Charity Foundation and UTAR, bringing hope to the students.”

One of the JinBodhi Bursary recipients, Ang Yong Sheng said “I want to thank the sponsors of the JinBodhi Bursary for their financial support, which has eased my tuition burden and allowed me to focus on my studies. With this assistance, I feel fortunate and can pursue academic excellence without worrying about fees. Your support motivates me to strive for self-improvement and envision a promising future. Thank you for making my educational journey smoother and shaping my path ahead.”

Another JinBodhi Bursary recipient Jessica Rui Enn said, “Today, I am incredibly honoured to express my deepest gratitude to the Bodhi Meditation Charity Foundation as a representative of the scholarship recipients. Thank you for your generosity, which has not only transformed my life but has also empowered me to pursue my dreams. This scholarship is not just a recognition of my efforts but also a tremendous help to my entire family. With the support of the Bodhi Meditation Charity Foundation, I can focus more on my studies without worrying about financial issues, providing me with the freedom to pursue personal development. It gives me the confidence to explore interests beyond academics, expand my endeavours, and prepare adequately for future growth. As for how I discovered this scholarship, approximately two weeks after the start of the semester, I learned about the scholarship through official school notifications and relevant information on the website. I delved into understanding the eligibility criteria, application process, and deadlines and submitted my application within the specified timeframe."
