UTAR's drone workshop inspires young minds

The UTAR STEM Outreach organised a “Drone Experience Workshop” for 58 students at SJK(C) Choong Wen on 22 June 2024, with support from the academics and student volunteers of the Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC FES). During the workshop, Dr Kwan Ban Hoe from LKC FES provided an informative briefing on the various types of drones and their operation.

Following Dr Kwan’s session, the students were given the opportunity to try out the drones themselves. Under the guidance of Assoc Prof Ir Dr Chee Pei Song, the students learned how to operate the drones, practicing take-off and landing manoeuvres on their hands.

The workshop was a resounding success, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.
