CEE conducts enriching English language activities for Sekolah Menengah San Min students

CEE instructors, SUWA teachers and students and UTAR student helpers

A hundred and fifty-four Form 3 students from Sekolah Menengah San Min, Perak (SUWA) participated in an English Language Camp hosted by the Centre for Extension Education (CEE) on 4 July 2024. The camp, designed to enhance students’ English proficiency in a supportive and enjoyable setting, proved to be a resounding success.

The event began with a brief introduction to UTAR and its diverse programmes, including the English Enhancement Programme (EEP), the MUET Preparatory Course, and Inspire@Learning by CEE Instructor Mr Aaron Victor Dass. Following the session, Ms Najihah binti Pazaer and Ms Bragathiswary Vathemurthy delivered an interactive grammar lesson, focused on subject-verb agreement. This session allowed students to refine their grammar skills in an engaging and dynamic environment.

One of the camp’s highlights was the action-packed mystery-crime-solving station games, led by English instructor Mr Beh Heng Jian and supported by UTAR student helpers. These hands-on activities encouraged students to fully immerse themselves in the English language. The games provided a platform for students to practise their language skills boldly, encouraging them to practise without fear of making mistakes, thus boosting their confidence and fluency.

The camp concluded with a prize-giving ceremony, where three groups of students were awarded for achieving the highest scores in the games. The event ended on a joyous note with a group photo session, capturing the smiles and excitement of students, teachers, and instructors alike.

CEE remains committed to fostering confidence in English language use among students and providing them with deeper linguistic understanding and effective communication skills.
