Southwest Jiaotong University, China visits UTAR
Representatives from Southwest Jiaotong University, China (SWJTU) paid a visit to UTAR Kampar Campus on 10 July 2024. The visit aimed to enhance academic cooperation, provide students with broader educational experiences about railway engineering, and strengthen the relationship between the two universities.
The guests included SWJTU Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges Vice Chief Mr Li Hai, Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges International Students Office Vice Director Ms Zeng Ye, School of Civil Engineering General Affairs Office Director Ms Huang Xuejiao, School of Civil Engineering Foreign Affairs Secretary Mr Ding Haibo, and Department of Vehicle Engineering Vice Director and Assistant to the Dean of School of Mechanical Engineering Mr Ding Junjun.
They were welcomed by Office of International Affairs (OIA) Deputy Director Assoc Prof Dr Chen, I-Chi, Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology (FEGT) Head of Department of Construction Management Dr Kwan Wai Hoe, FEGT academics Assoc Prof ChM Ts Dr Lam Sze Mun, Ts Dr Tan Zi Yi, Ir Dr Tshai Kim Hoe @ Chai Kim Hoe; and OIA Assistant Manager Ms Yee Kai Ling.
A meeting took place between the two parties during the visit. Attending the meeting virtually were Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC FES) Head of Programme for MEng (Mechanical) Ts Dr Lee Hwang Sheng, and LKC FES academics Dr Ong Chuan Fang and Ir Prof Dr Khoo Hooi Ling @ Lai Hooi Ling. The visit concluded with a souvenir exchange and a group photography session.

The Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU), founded in 1896 as the “Imperial Chinese Railway College”, holds the distinction of being the first institution of higher engineering education in China. It has earned a reputation as "the cradle of railway engineers in China.
