UTAR-PAPC partnership paves the way for student success with new loan fund

UTAR and the Persatuan Alumni Pengajian Cina (PAPC) signed an agreement to establish the UTAR - Persatuan Alumni Pengajian Cina Student Loan Fund. This fund aims to provide financial assistance to students in need, enabling them to pursue their tertiary education at UTAR. The UTAR - Persatuan Alumni Pengajian Cina Student Loan Fund will be managed by UTAR. 

The signing ceremony, which took place at UTAR Sungai Long Campus, on 21 June 2024 was officiated by UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat and PAPC Honorary President Mdm Lim Lee Fah. Witnessing this momentous occasion were Institute of Chinese Studies (ICS) Dean Assoc Prof Dr Chong Siou Wei and PAPC President Ms Wong Foong Kiew.

Prof Dato’ Ewe mentioned, “This UTAR-PAPC Student Loan initiative not only facilitates access to higher education but also empowers students to confidently pursue their academic ambitions at UTAR. It is poised to make a profound impact on their lives, enabling them to focus on their studies and achieve their full potential, thereby shaping a brighter future for themselves and their communities.”

Also present at the ceremony were UTAR Department of Scholarships and Financial Aid Head Ms Tan Wear Sim, ICS Deputy Dean for R&D and Postgraduate Programmes Assoc Prof Dr Chin Chong Foh, ICS Department of Chinese Studies (Sungai Long Campus) Assoc Prof Dr Liau Ping Leng, PAPC Vice President Ms Tan Hui Sean, PAPC Secretary Ms Loh Siu Tzung, PAPC Treasurer Mr Chong Wei Loong, and PAPC committee members Ms On Yee Min and Ms Yeo Chia Chia.
