The UTAR Sports Exchange Programme 2024 took place from 27 May to 30 May 2024 in the charming city of Miri, Sarawak. Organised by the energetic Sports and Recreation Unit of the Department of Student Affairs (DSA) at UTAR Sungai Long Campus, the event brought together spirited players of badminton, table tennis, and futsal. The student-athletes were accompanied by DSA staff Mr Ganavenoth Karunakaran, Mr Mohd Alfiha bin Mat Tarihan, Ms Norhidayah binti Hamsah and Ms Nuraini binti Ibrahim.

The programme commenced on 27 May 2024, with the departure to Miri and check-in at the City Rise Hotel. On the first day, the UTAR team faced off against the Hong Seng Badminton Club, resulting in a draw with each team securing four wins. Simultaneously, the futsal team won remarkably against the Miri Futsal Club.

The second day featured a trip to Curtin University, where UTAR’s teams competed in badminton, table tennis, and futsal sports, showcasing their skills and sportsmanship by winning all the games. On the third day, the teams continued their winning streak at RIAM Institute of Technology, excelling in all sports disciplines.
Before departing Miri, the group visited the Miri Handicraft Centre, immersing themselves in local culture and crafts. The programme concluded with a flight back to Kuala Lumpur, marking the end of a successful and enriching sports exchange.
This Sports Exchange Programme provided UTAR athletes a valuable platform to hone their skills, build networks, and foster camaraderie with athletes from different institutions. The experiences and achievements from this programme will undoubtedly inspire and motivate our athletes in their future endeavours.
