Students and staff from GZCCC
UTAR was thrilled to welcome 21 students and one
staff member from Guangzhou City Construction College (GZCCC) for the
“Explore Malaysia, Truly Asia!” inbound student mobility programme that took
place from 14 to 21 July 2024. The programme was designed to offer an
immersive experience, fostering international understanding and
collaboration, and strengthening the bond between UTAR and GZCCC.
Ice-breaking session and campus tour
The programme began with a warm reception at Kuala
Lumpur International Airport where the group was welcomed by a team of UTAR
staff. An opening ceremony at UTAR introduced the visitors to the
university’s vibrant environment, followed by a comprehensive campus tour.
Participants also engaged in an ice-breaking session, encouraging
interaction and camaraderie among students.
Participants exploring iconic landmarks in Kuala Lumpur
The highlight of the week was the tour around the
city of Kuala Lumpur, which included visits to iconic sites, such as Batu
Malai Sri Murugan Temple (Batu Caves), Central Market, Petaling Street, Kwai
Zai Hong, and Suria KLCC. The tour enabled students to immerse themselves in
the local culture and history, providing a rich, first-hand experience of
the city’s diversity.

various cultural workshops and visits. A notable event was the visit to
Putra Mosque in Putrajaya for cultural exposure. The group had the
opportunity to learn about Malaysia’s Islamic heritage. Another significant
event included the visit to the Royal Selangor Visitor Centre, where
students engaged in a workshop, offering them a practical insight into
Malaysia’s traditional crafts. Additionally, students took part in a batik
workshop, providing a hands-on experience in creating traditional Malaysian
fabric art.
Participants exploring the historical sites in Melaka
The programme also included a day trip to Melaka,
featuring visits to historical sites, such as the Muzium Samudera, A Famosa,
Church of Saint Paul, and Christ Church Melaka. The excursion provided a
