LGB Group donates to UTAR Education Foundation

The launching of LGB Eco Lab at the Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology (FEGT) of UTAR Kampar Campus, on 29 May 2024, was a testament of UTAR and LGB Group’s commitment towards advancing education, healthcare, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. This milestone was etched historically thanks to the generous donation from the LGB Group. Beyond that, the donation received will also greatly support the development of UTAR Hospital.

The LGB Eco Lab was launched by LGB Director Ms Shally Lim, accompanied by spouse Mr Henry Loh; LGB Director Datin Irene Lim, accompanied by spouse Dato’ Andy Ng; UTAR Education Foundation Board of Trustees Chairman Tan Sri Dato’ Dr Sak Cheng Lum; UTAR Council Member Mr Hew Fen Yee; FEGT Dean Ir Prof Dr Ng Choon Aun; and CEO of UTAR Hospital Prof Dr Lau Hui-Ping.

Adding significance to the momentous occasion was the mock cheque presentation by LGB Group Directors Ms Shally Lim and Datin Irene Lim to UTAR Education Foundation Board of Trustees Chairman Tan Sri Sak, witnessed by UTAR Council Member Mr Hew and UTAR Hospital CEO Prof Lau.

Tan Sri Sak expressed appreciation and gratitude in his speech, and said, “I extend our deepest appreciation to the LGB Group for their generous donation. As a university by the people and for the people, UTAR believes in giving back to the community and through such initiatives, the students and ultimately, the wider community will benefit from your support and contributions. We are truly honoured that the LGB Group shares a similar vision in advancing education and healthcare for the good of the people and the nation.”

Meanwhile, Datin Irene Lim said, “It is a great step towards community empowerment for a positive sustainable impact, and we are truly honoured to be part of this and contribute to the development of UTAR Hospital. Social responsibility is something that LGB feels very passionate about. It is a big part of who we are and what we look towards. We are committed to giving back to the community. Our core values deeply resonate with our actions as a business and as people. We commend your effortless push and commitment in building a vision to set up a hospital and taking this vision step by step until fruition. You have made a big difference and I hope all of us will continue to inspire each other in the same spirits, and to come forward to do the same.”

The ceremony was also witnessed by LGB Group guests, namely Deputy General Manager Mr Tan Art Peow, Senior Manager and Technical/Contract and Quality Management Mr Voo Kok Meng, Quantity Survey Manager Ms Fong Poi See, Jesse, and Group Corporate Communication Senior Manager Ms Catherina Yeoh, along with UTAR and UTAR Hospital staff. After that, tours around UTAR Kampar Campus and UTAR Hospital were conducted.

The LGB Eco Lab is designed to perform comprehensive environmental analysis and monitoring, playing an important role in protecting our environment. It is equipped with advanced biochemical techniques and state-of-the-art instrumentation to assess the quality and composition of various environmental samples, such as air analysis, wastewater analysis and soil analysis.
