Exploring collaboration with PPG through industrial visit

UTAR was invited to visit the Plaza Premium Group (PPG) at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) on 21 May 2024 to explore potential collaborations. The purpose of the visit was to discuss opportunities for talent recruitment, internships, and guest talks.

Notably, PPG’s CEO accepted the invitation from UTAR Centre for Corporate and Community Development (CCCD) to deliver a talk for the CEO Talk series in June/July 2024, promising to share valuable industry insights with students and the faculty.

The delegation from UTAR included Faculty of Creative Industries (FCI) Dean Dr David Tneh Cheng Eng, FCI Deputy Dean for Student Development and Industrial Training Ts Dr Ang Kok Yew, Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC FES) Deputy Dean for Student Development and Industrial Training Assoc Prof Ts Dr Lee Kim Yee, Faculty of Accountancy and Management (FAM) Deputy Dean for Student Development and Industrial Training Mr Low Chin Kian, FAM academics Assoc Prof Dr Low Mei Peng, Dr Yogambigai Rajamoorthy, Dr Goh Hong Lip and Puan Robaisya binti Rahmat,  Department Soft Skills Competency (Sungai Long Campus) Head Ms Fook Oi Yee, and Office of International Affairs (OIA) Assistant Manager Ms Wang Yiling.

During the visit, PPG Learning & Development Manager Ms Joanne Lee provided UTAR staff with an overview of PPG’s background and its operations within the Airport Ecosystem. She highlighted how PPG collaborates with various stakeholders to enhance the airport community, showcasing their commitment to delivering exceptional services.

The visit aimed to strengthen industry-academia partnerships by enhancing graduate employability through internships and career opportunities at PPG, and providing PPG with access to a pipeline of fresh talent and innovative ideas. The collaboration between UTAR and PPG is expected to be mutually beneficial, fostering growth and excellence in education and industry.
