Compliance visit by Malaysian Qualifications Agency

UTAR welcomed a compliance visit by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) auditors at its Sungai Long Campus on 30 and 31 May 2024 to evaluate the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning for Credit Award (APEL.C). The two-day evaluation took place at UTAR APEL.C Centre.

UTAR Vice President Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min warmly welcomed the auditing team, which included MQA panel Chairperson Prof Madya Ts Dr Zulkefli Mansor; panel members Prof Dr Normah Mustaffa and Ts Mohd Norafizal Abd Aziz, and MQA officer Pn Nor Izumee Ramli. The auditors assessed the implementation of APEL.C at UTAR through document reviews and meetings with management, lecturers, and students.

Also present at the meeting were Centre for Extension Education (CEE) Director Assoc Prof Ir Dr Lim Jee Hock, Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology (FEGT) Dean Ir Prof Dr Ng Choon Aun, Faculty of Creative Industries (FCI) Dean Dr David Tneh Cheng Eng, Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (FICT) Deputy Dean for Academic Development and Undergraduate Programmes Assoc Prof Ts Dr Cheng Wai Khuen, Centre for Curriculum Development and Innovation Head Dr Ngeow Yeok Meng, Division of Admissions and Credit Evaluation (DACE) Director Mr Wong Chee Wee, Academic Quality Assurance and Audit Dean Ir Prof Dr Rajkumar Durairaj, CEE Head for Business Development and Administration & Operation Unit Ms Joleena Chong binti Mohamad Chong and Department of Quality Assurance Head Ms Lam Soon Wai.

The APEL.C assesses an individual’s informal and non-formal learning from accumulated experience (knowledge and skills) for credit transfer in their current programme, focusing on their ability to apply experiential learning to course outcomes.
