Exploring collaborative horizons: University of the Arts London visits UTAR

UTAR received visitors from the University of the Arts London (UAL), England, United Kingdom at its Sungai Long Campus on 26 February 2024.

The visitors consisted of UAL Head of Global Partnerships and Mobility Ms Aliya Sorgen and Global Partnerships Coordinator Mr George Maxwell.

They were welcomed by UTAR Office of International Affairs Director Assoc Prof Dr Lai Soon Onn, Faculty of Creative Industries (FCI) Dean Dr David Tneh Cheng Eng, FCI Head of Department of Media Mr Anthony Gandolfo Miranti Jr, FCI Head of Department of Game Studies Mr Tan Han Keong and FCI Head of Department of Multimedia Design and Animation Dr Wan Irma Sabrina binti Idris.

The ongoing discussion

With a multitude of similar courses offered by both universities, the visit aimed to explore possibility for partnership and exchange programmes that would enrich the academic experiences of students, and joint research from both universities. Other than that, the discussion delved into the creative and arts industry environment in Malaysia today and its impact in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Additionally, both universities were keen on exploring virtual education, especially through cyber classrooms. The two parties expressed their shared interest in identifying new teaching methods that go beyond physical locations to make education more accessible to everyone.
