Alumni get together and Chinese New Year celebration with UTAR President

The Department of Alumni Relations and Placement (DARP) organised the Alumni Get Together with UTAR President (CNY Celebration) at the Multipurpose Hall (MPH) of UTAR Sungai Long Campus on 24 February 2024. The event aimed to gather all the alumni to celebrate Chinese New Year and enhance their connection with each other through the sharing of their experiences and knowledge.

The event was attended by UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat, Vice President for Internationalisation and Academic Development Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min, Vice President for Student Development and Alumni Relations Prof Dr Choong Chee Keong, UTAR Alumni Association of Malaysia President Mr Simon Chong Weng Yeap, Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC FES) Dean Prof Ts Dr Yap Wun She, Faculty of Accountancy and Management (FAM) Dean Dr Pok Wei Fong, Faculty of Creative Industries (FCI) Dean Dr David Tneh Cheng Eng, DARP Head Ms Tan Cheng Wah, sponsors, alumni, students, and staff.

Both Mr Simon Chong and Prof Dato’ Ewe gave a speech at the gathering. Prof Dato’ Ewe shared, “This gathering presents a wonderful opportunity for us to reconnect, reminisce, and celebrate the bonds that unite us as members of the UTAR family. As we share stories of success, challenges, and aspirations, let us also forge new connections and collaborations that will enrich our professional and personal lives.”

He added, “I express my sincere hope that gatherings such as this will continue to be a cherished tradition, bringing us together in friendship and unity. I hope that all of you can continue supporting UTAR in its pursuit of excellence and innovation.”

The gathering saw many lively and mesmerising performances throughout the night, such as the opening performance by the UTAR Broadcasting Society, dance performances by the UTAR Dance Club, and live band performances by the UTAR Music Club. The attendees also enjoyed a wonderful dinner that was comprised of many scrumptious meals.
