UTAR signs MoA with 1 Doc Holding Sdn Bhd to pioneer solutions for hair growth

UTAR and 1 Doc Holding Sdn Bhd signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) on 27 February 2024 at UTAR Sungai Long Campus. With the signing of the MoA, both parties will carry out a joint research titled “Study on the Efficacy and Safety of Hair Doc Ultrapulse for the Treatment of Androgenic alopecia”.

The signatories were UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat and 1 Doc Holding Sdn Bhd Chief Education Officer Dr Chin Boon Keat. Witnessing the signing were UTAR Vice President for R&D and Commercialisation Prof Ts Dr Faidz bin Abd Rahman and 1 Doc Holding Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer Dr Ong Hong Keat.

Other guests from 1 Doc Holding Sdn Bhd include Managing Director Dr Terrence Teoh Tean Chun, Marketing Director Ms Sharon Teoh Hui Sim, and Marketing Executives Mr Kow Hong Zheng and Mr Chuah Shi Ze.

Also present at the event were UTAR Institute of Postgraduate Studies and Research (IPSR) Director Prof Ts Dr Lim Yang Mooi, the Principal Investigator; M. Kandiah Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (MK FMHS) academic Dr Foo Chai Nien, the Co-Principal Investigator; Faculty of Business and Finance (FBF) academic Dr Hemaniswarri Dewi Dewadas, the Co-Principal Investigator and UTAR alumnus Dr Sew Heng Hong.

Dr Chin expressed, “Our partnership with UTAR marks a significant milestone in our journey towards understanding and addressing Androgenic Alopecia solution through the Hair Doc UltraPulse research study. Hair loss affects millions worldwide, impacting individuals of all ages, genders, and backgrounds. It’s a concern that goes beyond mere aesthetics, deeply affecting one’s self-confidence and quality of life. Recognising the urgency and importance of this issue, our collaboration with UTAR aims to explore innovative solutions and therapies to combat hair loss and stimulate hair growth. Together, we are leveraging cutting-edge technologies, state-of-the-art facilities, and multidisciplinary approaches to break the complexities of hair biology and develop effective treatments.”
