International students at UTAR Sungai Long Campus celebrate Chinese New Year

The Department of International Student Services (DISS) at UTAR Sungai Long Campus hosted the International Students Celebration of Chinese New Year (CNY) 2024 on 28 February 2024, welcoming 40 international students from diverse backgrounds to participate in the festivity.

The event not only provided a rich tapestry of cultural exchange, entertainment and culinary delights, but also a unique opportunity for students to immerse themselves in the vibrant traditions of CNY. At the core of the celebration was the spirit of unity and understanding as students came together to share in the customs and rituals that marked this auspicious occasion.

The event featured a lot of activities designed to engage and delight the attendees. From cultural sharing sessions where students learned about the significance of CNY customs to lively games and performances that showcased the talents of participants, every aspect of the event was crafted to foster a sense of community and belonging. Through these shared experiences, students were able to forge lasting bonds and gain a deeper appreciation for the diverse cultures represented within the international student body.

Furthermore, the students also enjoyed a delicious variety of traditional Chinese dishes as well as popular international favourites. As the students gathered around the table to share the meal and celebrate the arrival of the new year, they were able to create lasting memories that transcended cultural boundaries, while embodying the spirit of friendship.
